I painted this after visiting Arches National Park in Utah. The landscape out there is like nothing else — wide open, quiet, and full of color that shifts by the minute. I was especially drawn to how the rocks lit up at sunset, and how the sky layered soft blues and purples over all that red earth.
Putting this on canvas adds a bit more texture, which fits the rugged feel of the scene. It’s a good piece for anyone who’s been out West, or just wants to bring some warmth and open space into their home.
